The world’s largest iPhone manufacturing facility located in China is apparently back up and running at 90% capacity, months after workers in China shut it down due to the government’s COVID-19 regulations.
According to Henan Daily, a Chinese state media publication, Foxconn Technology Group claims to be managing the factory with roughly 200,000 workers in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou. The organization is Apple Inc.’s largest manufacturing partner for their highlighted smartphone.
Zhengzhou, also known as iPhone City, came to a halt in October 2022 as thousands of workers halted production owing to the government’s harsh zero-COVID laws. Over the previous two months, the protests have interrupted supply chains and cost Apple billions of dollars. As a result of the demonstrations, Apple has announced that buyers will have to wait longer for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max versions during the holiday season.
“For the time being, the order books seem healthy, and orders will surge from now until a few months after Chinese New Year,” said Wang Xue, the factory’s deputy general manager, in an interview with the Chinese media. Foxconn stated last month that full production would most likely restart in late December or early January. The reopening of the facility will almost certainly enhance Apple’s sales of the current iPhone during the holiday shopping season.
