Volkswagen’s chief executive, Oliver Blume, urged China and Europe to develop tariff systems that reward investment in domestic car production. Blume emphasized the importance of mutual benefits during his recent discussions with Chinese ministers in Beijing, who were open to finding a fair solution.
“When they invest in Europe and work together with European countries, that’s positive and should be taken into account… when we invest in China, we want to benefit from the same deal,” Blume stated, following the release of the carmaker’s second-quarter results.
