The Saudi Falcon Club has concluded its highly anticipated fourth falcon auction, achieving remarkable sales exceeding SR7 million ($1.9 million), according to reports from the Saudi Press Agency. The auction, conducted at the club’s Malham headquarters near Riyadh from October 1 to November 15, saw a total of 87 falcons going under the gavel. The highlight of the event was a falcon from East Arar, securing its place as the most expensive bird, fetching an impressive SR300,000. Walid Al-Taweel, the official spokesperson for the club, emphasized that the auction serves the dual purpose of preserving the Kingdom’s rich falconry heritage and bolstering cultural and economic activities. Additionally, it provides investment opportunities in a sector that contributes to the advancement of the national economy.
During the closing ceremony, two participants were awarded cars, and 20 prizes worth SR5,000 each were distributed to other winners. The Shaheen Farkh, a category representing Saudi owners, offered four falcons at the auction, with prices ranging from SR63,000 to SR141,000. This successful auction not only fosters the passion for falconry but also underscores the commitment to promoting cultural traditions and contributing to the economic development of Saudi Arabia.
