Saudi Arabia has achieved a remarkable advancement in the World Bank’s Statistical Performance Indicators (SPI) report, moving up 25 places and securing the top spot in the Gulf region. The Kingdom’s rise to 15th place among G20 nations, compared to 19th in 2019, underscores its commitment to enhancing the availability and maturity of economic data. The World Bank’s evaluation, considering the statistical systems of 186 countries, analyzes key axes such as data sources, services, statistical products, and infrastructure. Saudi Arabia’s notable achievement includes a perfect score of 100 percent on the “data use” axis and an overall evaluation score of 80 percent, indicating a substantial improvement from the previous assessment. The Chairman of the General Authority for Statistics, Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, attributes this success to strong support and empowerment, contributing to strategic transformations and reinforcing the authority’s role in providing high-quality statistical data that supports decision-makers across various sectors. The Kingdom’s progress on the SPI reflects its commitment to implementing a robust statistical framework aligned with the goals of Vision 2030. Ongoing efforts by the authority include anticipating the future, developing technical infrastructure, conducting field surveys, and fostering partnerships to enhance data availability across sectors.
