French automaker Renault reported a 1.9% increase in first-half sales, selling 1,154,700 vehicles globally compared to 1,133,478 units last year. Nearly three-quarters of these sales were in Europe, where sales grew by 6.7%, outpacing the market’s 5.5% growth. Electrified vehicles made up 29.6% of Renault’s European sales, a 4.3-point increase from 2023.
Despite a slower second quarter, Renault’s strong performance in hybrid vehicles drove the growth. The Renault brand saw a 2% dip in passenger car volumes to 573,149 units, but light commercial vehicles grew by 14.6%.
After returning to growth last year following four years of declining sales, Renault is optimistic that 10 new launches in 2024 will sustain its positive momentum.
