OpenAI whistleblowers have filed a complaint with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, calling for an investigation into the company’s restrictive non-disclosure agreements. The letter, provided by Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office to Reuters, alleges that OpenAI’s NDAs required employees to waive their federal rights to whistleblower compensation. The whistleblowers are urging the SEC to fine OpenAI for each improper agreement. The SEC stated that they do not comment on possible whistleblower submissions. OpenAI did not immediately respond for comment. The letter also claims OpenAI required employees to get prior consent before disclosing information to federal regulators, and did not create exemptions in non-disparagement clauses for disclosing securities violations to the SEC. The whistleblowers are asking the SEC to require OpenAI to produce every contract containing a non-disclosure agreement for inspection. The news was first reported by the Washington Post.
