Rishi Kapoor, co-CEO of Bahrain-based Investcorp, has identified Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region as highly attractive for climate-focused investments, making it a global leader in this sector. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Kapoor highlighted Investcorp’s recently-launched $750 million climate-focused investment platform. Positioned in the Middle East, Investcorp aims to draw global investments into the region’s growing climate-focused opportunities, focusing on businesses beyond the proof of concept stage that are commercially viable and require capital for exponential scaling.
Kapoor emphasized the pivotal role of the Gulf region as both a significant consumer and a strategic launchpad for climate innovations, particularly in addressing the Global South’s extensive market. He underscored Investcorp’s unique position, citing its history, strategic location, experience, and franchise, as factors that enable the company to facilitate the adoption of climate solutions globally. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, Kapoor expressed confidence in the region’s resilience, drawing on Investcorp’s 40-year history and highlighting the Middle East’s enduring capacity to navigate challenges with a patient, long-term mindset.
