India’s Foreign Minister: BRICS Not Aiming to Undermine U.S. Dollar 💵

BRICS nations have no intention of weakening the U.S. dollar, India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated on Saturday during an event in Doha, Qatar.

Jaishankar’s remarks follow a warning from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who called on BRICS countries—comprising major economies like India, Russia, and China—to pledge not to create or support an alternative currency to replace the dollar. Trump threatened 100% tariffs on countries that defy this demand.

Jaishankar emphasized that BRICS discussions are not focused on undermining the dollar, aiming instead to address shared economic and developmental goals. His comments come amid ongoing speculation about the bloc’s intentions regarding the global financial system and the role of the dollar.
