Excavation for Mukaab, Saudi Arabia’s iconic cubic structure, is commencing as China Harbour Engineering Co. partners with New Murabba Development Co. The project, funded by the Public Investment Fund, will become the world’s first immersive destination, featuring traditional Najdi architecture, retail, cultural attractions, and more, set for completion by 2030 as the centerpiece of NMDC’s downtown initiative in Riyadh.
New Murabba is an expansive, sustainable mixed-use development with 25 million sq. km of floor area, 104,000 residential units, and 9,000 hotel rooms. It includes vast retail, office, and community spaces, an iconic museum, a design university, and numerous cultural venues. The project is strategically located in Riyadh and is part of the fund’s strategy to boost the non-oil economy, creating 334,000 jobs and adding $50 billion to the economy by 2030.
