The EU Commission announced on Thursday its unconditional approval of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE.N) $14 billion takeover of networking gear maker Juniper Networks (JNPR.N). The commission’s investigation concluded that the deal would not significantly reduce competition in markets for wireless LAN equipment, ethernet campus switches, and datacentre switches.
The EU noted that the combined company’s market position would remain moderate and face competition from various rivals. HPE’s approval for the deal, initially announced in January, was expected as sources indicated earlier in the week.
This acquisition highlights the growing trend of companies upgrading and developing new products amid the surge in AI-driven services. The deal is also under review by Britain’s antitrust authority, with a decision expected on August 14.
