The family of Eduardo Saverin, Facebook co-founder, has made a generous donation of S$20 million ($15.5 million) to the Singapore American School (SAS), marking the largest gift in the institution’s history. The donation, announced by SAS Superintendent Tom Boasberg, will have a transformative impact on the school, particularly its new elementary campus currently under construction.
The donation will fund the creation of world-class play spaces, cutting-edge STEM labs, and support a Chinese immersion program, along with other strategic priorities. Saverin’s wife, Elaine Saverin, expressed hope that the gift would benefit thousands of current and future students, demonstrating the family’s commitment to the school.
Eduardo Saverin, who moved to Singapore in 2009 and renounced his US citizenship in 2011, is estimated to have a net worth of $30.5 billion, largely tied to his holdings in Meta Platforms Inc.
