Australia Stocks Rise, Led by Telecoms, Financials, and Energy Sectors 📈

Australian stocks closed higher on Monday, boosted by gains in the Telecoms Services, Financials, and Energy sectors. The S&P/ASX 200 index rose 0.76% to close in Sydney.

The top performers of the session were Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN), which surged 12.90% to close at 4.90, Chorus Ltd (ASX:CNU), which gained 9.92% to end at 7.98, and James Hardie Industries PLC (ASX:JHX), up 5.01% to 54.31. On the downside, NIB Holdings (ASX:NHF) fell 16.92% to 6.04, Appen Ltd (ASX:APX) dropped 8.93% to 1.27, and Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) declined 7.80% to 0.50.

Overall, 591 stocks rose, 557 declined, and 446 remained unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring market volatility, decreased by 0.51% to 11.63.

In commodities, gold futures for December rose 0.12% to $2,549.40 an ounce, while crude oil for October delivery increased by 0.83% to $75.45 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery rose 0.74% to $78.73 a barrel. The AUD/USD was stable, while AUD/JPY fell 0.47%.
