Aramco Calls for New Energy Transition Strategy Focused on Asia 🌏⚡

Saudi Aramco has urged the development of a new energy transition strategy that better addresses the needs of Asia and the Global South, amid growing concerns over the uneven progress of current plans.

Speaking at the Singapore International Energy Week, Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser highlighted the need for what he called a “Transition Plan 2.0,” with a clear emphasis on placing Asia at the center of global energy initiatives.

“This may be Asia’s century. But Asia’s voice and priorities, like those of the broader Global South, are hard to see in current transition planning, and the whole world is feeling the consequences,” said Nasser.

He noted that the present energy transition is moving “far slower, far less equitable, and far more complicated than many expected,” urging a more pragmatic and balanced approach to global emissions reduction.

Nasser’s call for action comes as the world faces increasing challenges in achieving a fair and effective energy transition that takes into account the diverse needs of various regions.
