Saudi Arabia and Portugal have forged a promising partnership in the aviation sector through a recent agreement signed between the Kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Portugal’s Ministry of Infrastructure. This collaboration, inked during the Saudi-Portuguese Joint Committee meeting, is geared towards establishing secure and safe air services. Beyond ensuring safety, the agreement also aims to bolster trade exchanges and foster economic growth between these two nations. Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim emphasized the remarkable increase in trade between the two countries, highlighting the potential for enhanced collaboration. This aviation agreement is part of a series of contracts aimed at strengthening economic ties and promoting greater cooperation between Riyadh and Lisbon, particularly in addressing global challenges like climate change, sustainability, and post-pandemic economic recovery.
In addition to the aviation accord, Minister Al-Ibrahim signed a memorandum of understanding with the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products. This memorandum seeks to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of information and expertise in various aspects of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetic products. Both parties will also collaborate on laboratory testing, bioequivalence studies, and the safety evaluation of medical devices and supplies. This multifaceted collaboration underscores the commitment of Saudi Arabia and Portugal to forge strong economic partnerships and explore avenues for mutual growth and development.
